Happy Holidays 2011 and Welcome, Jack!!

December 27th, 2011

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KRISTEN!! ALSO HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, JACK-MAN!!

Hello everyone!!

Long time, no type. I am just going to post a couple of photos. We've had a busy month. We headed to Macon the first weekend of the month to see Mary Shelton get dedicated and then headed to Dallas for a full week. We stayed with Jim's dad and had a great time getting to see everyone. After that, we headed home and then I packed up the kids and we went to Driftwood for the Shelton large family Christmas. After that, we came back to Birmingham for a couple of days and then headed back to Jackson on a Thursday through a Saturday (Christmas Eve). After hanging out all day Thursday (Dec. 22nd), late that night, we found out Kristen was starting to contract and have a baby!! Baby John Andrew Collins (Jack) arrived Friday night after a lot of waiting and, I'm sure for Kristen and Galen, a lot of exhaustion. We are so thrilled he is here!! What are we to do with all of these boys???!! Anyway, B and Doc headed to Boston on Saturday while Ellen, Richard, Mary Shelton, Jim, James, Mason and I headed to Birmingham. We got here in time to watch the Cowboys lose a dreadful game, eat a nice meal, and get ready for Santa Claus!! Now, we are in Birmingham and should be here for a while until Mason and I head to Boston to meet Jack!! We have had a wonderful month but I'm kind of glad we are where we are now.. home, resting from all the chaos, and able to clean up :) Here are the photos hopefully in some sort of order :) Happy Holidays, everyone, and God Bless from our home to yours!!

Thanksgiving

I am so thankful for so much in my life. I have an awesome husband, amazing kids, i love my job... you know.. if I keep going, this will be one of those blogs you never want to read because I will start to make it sound like hard things never hit us.. HOWEVER.. in lieu of the holiday this Thursday, I should put on "paper" (or at least this generation's equivalent of) some of the things I am thankful for.

I am thankful for a God and Savior who loves me despite the awful person I can be.
I am thankful for a husband who sees eye to eye with me on most everything but at the same time we are very different and it seems to complement our relationship.

I am thankful for two healthy baby boys who I never knew would exist and now can't imagine my life without. I love you, James and Mason!

I am thankful for all of my family in Boston, Macon, Jackson, Dallas, the Delta, Birmingham
I am thankful for Birmingham.. you have been a great home so far and a very nice city (sans bankruptcy, Jeffco, thanks)
I am thankful for some amazing friends who have been such a building, sharpening tool in my life. I am thankful for tradition.. I love it
I am thankful for my college.

Okay.. I'll stop there.

Mason is almost 12 weeks old.. Man, he is chunking up!! He was 13 pounds at his two month appointment (though, it was two weeks late).. Anyway, may God bless you for many many things to be thankful for this season.. even in pain if that is where you are.. Without pain, one never truly understands joy. If you do not know darkness, how can you ever appreciate the light? Someone call me master of theology :) ha.

Love ya'll,

Melissa and the rest of the crew

It's Fall!

Back to the blog! It's been a while since I've posted anything so I thought I would do so today. We've had a busy morning of cleaning and decluttering and James has been such a good sport. I've learned that if I let him play in water in the sink with his car cars or his planes, he is occupied for quite some time :)

.

Mason is 3 weeks and 5 days old. He's just checking out the world, eating, sleeping and going through a lot of diapers. He is so cuddly and sweet. Jerky movements still. I'm looking forward to a smile.

This was taken this morning. James is 23 months old. His birthday party is in a month. I can't believe my booger will be two!! James was helping "mommy wipe". He was cleaning our fridge here. He is mostly naked because he soaked himself playing in the sink with his cars. He is saying "cheeeese" here.

Sept. 26th (mon). After a morning trip to the zoo and a good nap.. James loves making muffins and cupcakes. I give all credit to my mom, B. I fastened an old apron on him and he loved it. He loves chocolate and "peecoles" (sprinkles). after this activity, we went to the library with Robin, Anna, and Elizabeth and checked out some videos and books.

Aunt Lindsey, James has not forgotten "cheers"!! He does it with everything matching.. socks, spoons, cups, napkins.. he is so funny.

Sept. 24th (Sat). James likes to "hole Mason" (hold Mason). He is a good big brother. I am working on the no hitting issue but, otherwise, he's an all-star big bro. p.s Jim is an amazing daddy.

Cuties!! A few years ago, before the boys were even imagined, Jim and I got a roomba vacuum cleaner. Jim had decided since our house is "too full of girls" with me, Reagan (our female springer spaniel (5 years old at the time) and Abby (his female cat), we named the Roomba "Ron". I'm thinking we should change his name to Rhonda.. :) We have plenty of boys in the house now.

Now for show and tell :0) Here are a couple of crafty things I've done in the past week or two. I got the wreath idea from pinterest (www.pinterest.com - you must join!!). I actually hemmed the burlap ribbon myself.
I think I will change out the colors and flowers on these and use them for all of the different seasons!

Monogramming and appliquéing on one pillow. There was a stain on the upper right corner of the pillow so I got a little creative. I hope Mason likes giraffes.

Mason's room in progress:

The rug is a Restoration Hardware one. We have the crib and changing table ordered. The big last detail will be the bumper and accent pillows, etc. I will update these as I go along :)

SOOO cute. This just went up in his room. It needs to be centered. Sadly, I am not responsible for this picture.. I wish I could paint like that!
