McWane time

The science center in Birmingham is called the McWane center. We have a membership and it is such a great place to burn some energy and see James have a great time. Anyway, James and I went with the Sullivan family this morning and here are some shots.

No photos but updates

Hi all!

We are still kickin here! James came down with an ear infection/URI this past weekend. We are giving B a refresher on pediatric medicine with Mr. James! It seems every time he goes to Jackson, he is either already sick or gets sick. Poor buddy! He is on the mend, though, and just has a mild runny nose now.

Tomorrow, we are heading to the carousel at the Galleria and probably spend some time in the children's clothing stores, of course! Jim finally has a day off!

The last time we were on a carousel :)

This weekend is a baby shower for baby girl Thomas! I am so excited for Ellen and Richard!

I promise to take some photos tomorrow. I've been slacking! I am going to say that I'm for the Steelers at the super bowl because of my old trainer :) I wish it was the boys but maybe next year! Anyone have any fun plans?

Much love,

Melissa

organizing

Hi everyone,

Some nights, after the little pea pod has gone to sleep and so has the baby, I like to pretend that I have no reason to get to sleep early and I stay up. Usually, I do this when Jim is at work but, tonight, it just sprang upon me. Truthfully, we got a new computer because Jim's crashed and mine was slow and dented with no CD drive working. We got a fancy iMac. Right now, we have no place to put it but on the kitchen counter but.. that's where it is going to be for right now and It works for me.

I made this video. Practice for some video project(s) coming up but I thought you would enjoy it. Especially Lindsey and Grandaddy Galbraith since we missed a December Christmas with y'all. (The package is coming tomorrow - I had to add a few more small things to perfect it). Anyway, enjoy this:

Things I have accomplished this past week (since Monday)
I made two different dinners: chicken enchiladas and vegetable soup! and if you count the everyday grilled cheeses, I've made 50 more :)
Organized my photos on our computer
updated the blog
rearranged the furniture in our home
I made a video!

Projects this week:
work on a video for my sister's rehearsal dinner
possibly try to make curtains for our home. I'm excited and need advice from the experts!
Quiet time in the mornings. A much needed implemented activity.

Things I do aspire to do in the future. You could call these resolutions but I find a curse goes along with those when they mix with me. I would love to be more creative and green altogether, take more photos and keep the blog updated. I would love to have my whole house organized.. closets, attic, garage, etc. Easier said than done. I would love to plant blueberries and roses because Southern Living advised it.

More postings to come, I'm sure!

It's been a month!

Oh my goodness! It's been a whole month since I posted. I got a new iphone and I've been sending videos via email and texting but no postings here. I get an F for the month of Dec/Jan. What have I missed?...

Weeeell, we spent the majority of the week off we had for Christmas in Jackson. Jim got off in time for family Christmas which was early because we all have in-laws and families all over. We did not make it to Dallas YET.. but we have it on the calendar! James got a lot of riding toys for Christmas and a big pull wagon for the outings to the zoo, football games, etc.

Jim had a birthday on the 12th of Jan and we had a small suprise dinner for him at habaneros in hoover. Yum! Oh, also I got a bread maker for Christmas and have been testing out recipes. I'm not that great yet, but it will come. Okay.. here are a few goodies from the past month..

Touchdown!

Hey everyone,

I hope everyone is keeping warm and cozy in this freezing weather! This video was taken this past week. He's getting bigger and bigger! That belly!

I started to think of things I would want myself to remember about the journey Jim and I have had up to this point. I thought about making a list of things I might have tried differently though, keeping my personality in mind, I may not have tried these anyway.. but here are the things I thought of...

1. I would have made more of my own baby food when James was 6 months old and just get crazy with it.
2. I would have tried to pump sooner so it would help my production of milk later (sorry if that is TMI.. but it's true).. Not that this would have for sure made a difference but I'd like to try.
3. I would have tried to deliver without C-section. Now, I don't hate that this was the way it happened. It wasn't that bad but I'm really curious what it's like to go the other route.
4. I would have taken certain advice as a grain of salt. I think I put too much pressure on myself for things to be "just so".

On the heel of these thoughts, though, there are many many more things I am so grateful for and love about the past year.

1. I love my play group way more than I think they even know
2. I LOVE that I attempted a blog and that I am still writing in it. What a great way to remember how this journey was/is. I can't even remember what I had for lunch today so it's good I'm writing this stuff down and family and friends can see this.
3. I love mothers day out. If I didn't have the financial means for it, I think I would have to find a friend where we would swap days and give each other free days because, some days, that is a freedom much needed.
4. sleep schedule - I love that I got James on a great sleep schedule early on. This is probably more James than me but I feel like I worked hard on getting him in the bed for naps and bedtime like the book "Baby Whisperer" said and it worked well for us. Probably not for everyone, but for me, it helped immensely.
5. I love our pediatrician
6. I love the McWane Science center

possibly more to add to these lists coming soon
